‘Ecclesiastical Authority’ in Full Display

As far as Bishop K. P. Kuruvilla is concerned, establishment of his ‘ecclesiastical authority’ is more important than conducting a worship service on a Sunday. The adventure he embarked on Sunday, 29 August 2010 in a government aided mission school at Tripunithara is a clear demonstration of this.

As per the design developed in his mind, which always thinks in rather devious ways, he decided to settle scores with the Elamkulam parish by going over to the mission school in Tripunithara - an elementary school under the management of the North Kerala Diocese, aided by the government - and establish a parish of three families there.

Befitting his ecclesiastical glamour, he also had three Achens - Rev. Jacob John, his brother, Rev. Daniel John and Rev. Kurien Peter of the Immanuel Church, Ernakulum to accompany him, leaving their sheep to more worthy shepherds. In the presence of a large contingent of police force and a non-Christian public, he had his henchmen break into the school building and celebrate the Eucharist with six persons as captive audience. Probably he forgot the fact that the theme for this Sunday was Eucharist or may be, that is his vision of Church as a Eucharistic Fellowship.

Bishop's Henchmen breaking the padlock of the L P School hall under the ecclesiastical direction of Rt. Rev Dr. K P Kuruvilla. (later, both of them were arrested by police)

What was eventually achieved from all this? Of course, his rather bloated ego was deflated. A criminal case was filed against him, two others who had aided him in breaking the lock of the building, and a correspondent of the Save CSI, who was manhandled by the henchmen of the bishop as he was taking pictures of Bishop’s adventures. By his actions, the Bishop also succeeded in enlightening the public of Tripunithara of his designs, of how he wished to turn an aided elementary school into a place of worship. In the light of this, the public of Tripunithara is now organized against the agenda of the Bishop and has formed a forum - Mission School Samrakshana Samithi. Moreover, it has been reliably learnt that the Director of Public Education has also objected to this move as it is against the Kerala Education Rules (KER). Continue to stay tuned to read more of Bishop’s escapades.

Not only am i amused but tickled too. This episode of the sattiric drama is a showcase of how a person or his faction can antogonize the larger flock.A true example of bad managerial tactics.Chankya the general of Chandragupta wrote in his three tactics of warfare.Quote"If your adversary proves to be mightier than what you expect.Lie low.Make friends in his camp.Hit them with all the force and then run.Dont look back till your enemy has fallen"Unquote.Your holiness you have failed your original intentions. Not only have you failed yourself, you have failed the office which you represent.I see no reason as why you continue these failed tactics.Show ingenuity.Deploy new ones.God forbid you suceed but the only way i see that to be realised is only and only through divine intervention.

This is not just an incident, it is one of the most historical events in the history of CSI. This is the first time that a bishop is barging into to take service with just six people on a Sunday. The Character is within, it comes out at times, that is what the experiences show. Are'nt bishops supposed to have Christian Character?

I saw this website when i searched for "CSI bishop K P Kuruvilla". If this is the truth about what is happening in CSI, sooner more flocks will move to other churches and in the end there will be no laymen to support the church. Then the church can survive only till the last property is sold. Beware, men of CSI, you are on a dangerous path fighting autocratic evil heads. Approach the highest authority (pray to God) of the church and throw the evil men out. And cleanse the church or else tomorrow you might not have a church for a baptism or a marriage. Reformation is necessary when democracy becomes autocracy. Never let evil come up because you have a lot to hold up. Pray for divine intervention.

didn't the police act when the lock of the hall was broken by bishops men?
Why no action taken against Bishop by the police?
Why was media not informed?

The fact is that, the Elamkulam church is having the authority to conduct a holy communion service on every third sundays. they have already conducted it on 22nd of Aug. then why the bishop came to conduct a service on 4th sunday with a few people who is not members of Elamkulam church? Is the bishop informed the the local authority of this chapel, the Christ church, Elamkulam. It is understood that, this helps to add more fuel to the rift between Elamkulam church and bishop. the bishop should not have gone for such an act. it is shame to all CSI believers. why the pastors of another church interfere in this event? dont they have to look their pastorate on sundays? where are we going to........... forgetting the Christian commitments.... If the bishop showing the path of hatred and anger to his own sheeps....where tis is going to ends up.

This is very sad news about our church. What we, the humble and simple flock of this church can do against these tarnishing steps of our Chief shepherd? May be he is an antichrist. No one can do such nasty things like this except Antichrsit.

People respect bishop just because he is a bishop. A person as such, he is not a person who deserves any respect. This kind of an act can be termed as a "Mafia Act". Wrong attitude leads to destruction.

Sorry state of affairs and we are to put our heads down in shame. Last Sunday the Bishop chose not to travel by his official car as he parked the vehicle in CSI Immanuel Church compound while all the above happened elsewhere in the city. The service in Ernakulam Church was ably conducted by Rev. Rooban alone. We now know where Rev. Kurien Peter was leaving the congregation on a Sunday. What kind of leaders can we look up to?

I don't kwn y our bishop is doing dis to our Christ church family...?

It is learned that, a circular (# 21/2010)is published from diocese stating that the Eloor, Tripunithura/Karimugal congregation is controlled by bishop himself. THe working committee has entrusted the control upon bishop. My doubt is that, I know there is congregation at Eloor. And how a congregation called Tripunithura/Karimugal, which is not there. We have a congergation at Ernakulam under Immanuel Church, which consists of different areas such as city, ravipuram. thevara, palarivattom..so on. And Elamkulam congregation under Christ church which is consisted by areas called Kadavanthara, elamkulam, vyttilla, tripunithura etc. which is bifurcated for the smooth running of pastoral care. Then how can one define a congregation which is a part of Christ church congregation, even though it is the bishop. What is the normal procedure for bifurcate a pastorate. n my knowledge, there has to be 200 baptized members required for forming a separate pastorate. Then how can a working committee and bishop take such a decision? Are the members of Christ church who are residing the Tripunithura /Karimugal area requested for a separate pastorate? Do the Elamkulam church demanded for a pastorate in that area? "Kurunthottikku vaadham pidichall enthaa cheyka"

i suppose, since the moderator is under big fraud issues, think his subordinated would also dont mind doing this kind of dirty things. the people who made him Bishop has to be blamed. rotten apples has to be thrown out before other apples get rotten. Why no action is taken against all these improper things by the synod. Is'nt there anyone to raise it up to the synod? expect more worse things than this from K P Kuruvilla.

@Kurien perter Achen - Are you transfered to Tripunithara by Bishop. or you went to Tripunithara to give company for Bishop Gundayism with your leader K P Kuruvilla.

I was wondering after seeing this website..have you guys ever wondered what all these Achens and Bishops speak when they are in the pulpit. Dont know what to name all these men. It seems that there are a couple of criminal and civil cases pending against K P Kuruvilla, our most irreverent Bishop of CSI North Kerala Dioceses. Who is busy cutting teakwood trees in vaniamkulam and selling crores worth CSI property by fraud.

all those who wrote comments don't know what was the incident, just reading the above comments and repeating it again....so sad....well all this happened because of some ones pressure..to be precise a satan..a devil..everyone..... im writing this in presence of Jesus Christ....please read this bible verses Romans 13:1-8. Do not over come by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities.for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
therefore whoever resist the authority resist the ordinance of God,and those who resist will bring judgement o themselves.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil.Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you wil have praise from the same.
For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister,an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience sake.
For because of this You also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing.
Render therefore to all their due taxes to whom taxes due, customs to whom custom, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves one another has full filled the law.
please do refer 2Peter 2:1-3,Eph 6:5-8
please obey the Lord's command and act accordingly.

This is not the way to do this. If there is a problem, call both the parties and sort it with talks with an internal remedy. I don't see any kind of spirituality or any faith in this. A true believer will never break into a hall to pray, for him a shade of a tree will be more than enough to pray. The above incident shows that there is certainly a hidden agenda. Christ preached in villages and homes, here a Bishop is fighting in the name Christ for a hall to pray. Which Christ does this said bishop represent? Did the attendees got relief after the prayer? Everyman is accountable for his action.

The so called pseudo councillers with fraud doctorates twist the entire matters according to their whims and fancies. They also refer to Biblical Verses for their sanctity. They are the real villans who play the dirty game through the GOONDA Bishop.

Bishop Kuruvilla by his goondaism has shown that he is agent of the anti christ, who has no fear of God or men. Before vaccating the post he is likely to pledge the entire properties of North kerala Diocese and leave the country with the booty to Canada, where his daughter and family stays.

The most important point that all of us are forgetting is that K. P Kuruvilla will not have any interest in our diocese for sure. His objective is very clear. It is to do his salaried job to the best of his own benefit and push off. The very moment he retires he will be back in his home parish which is nowhere in our diocese and hence what is his worry as to whether the North Kerala diocese has to be managed well or not? He did not serve as a priest also for long in any of our churches. We should at least bring in a rule that the bishop candidate has to be a member of one of our churches and we should also make sure that the candidate has served as a priest in our churches. This will make sure that he knows the pulse of our congregation. Moreover if he has been serving as a clergy in one of our churches, it will be evident to know what his vision is for the church.

The word of God clearly states that we can know the tree by its fruits. From what we have seen around, it is evident that this bishop has absolutely no spiritual commitment or botheration about the well being of his flock, but is madly pursuing whatever that is giving him personal benefit.
Now there are a few silent viewers to this drama that is going on and those are the wonderful people who invited this good for nothing person to be the bishop of our diocese. Please remember that he is an elected Bishop and there are the people who have brought him to this position. “Velukkan Thechathu paandayi” is the situation of such people I think. Elections are over and if my information serves me right, his so called henchmen have all lost shamefully in almost all the parishes. The agenda for the new executive committee should be clearly drafted by its members and that is to make sure the Bishop is ripped off from all confidence with which he is doing all such atrocities. They should take him to task.

Moreover as laymen it is our duty to understand that it is time for us to be on our knees for our Church which I doubt whether we are doing too. If there is a community of pray warriors ready to wrestle in prayer with God for our church, there is going to be a definite change that the Almighty will bring in. It was painful to see the news where the Vicar had to conduct service alone in the church. Whatever protests we do, I am of the opinion that we should never be an obstacle to Divine services. There should be other way of showing our protests.

Prayer without works is dead is what the Bible teaches us, and we need to act against the wrong doings of K.P. Kuruvilla. Remember we have a Saviour who took the whip only in one place and that is when he saw that the place of worship was not used in a manner it should be used. It might be revolutionary but it is high time we took the whip to drive such people out of our place of worship.
